What about Bob?

Hmmm... well! I took journalism in high school but spent most of my time in class playing football with a triangular shaped gob of paper. It must of helped because I went on to be editor of my college newspaper; actually the first one at Kennesaw College in Marietta, Georgia.

I must admit I only held the position for a year before I decided my country needed my body more than the college needed my editorial skills. ...sooooooooooooooooo..... of to the jungles of Viet Nam I ventured while part of America's finest (the USMC). Five kids, two marriages, 9 years with the Corps, and 20 years of fixing sensitive equipment that examines every beat of your heart... later, I decided it was time to take up writing again. I wrote (actually typed) letters (thousands and thousands of messages and e-mails), poems, a technical book, my adventures in the computing world (they were actually published), and quite a few love letters (often erotic but never pornographic).

I found myself being drawn to e. e. cummings, Robert Frost, and Dylan Thomas... however for some reason Bob Dylan's and Paul Simon's lyrics are what I spent most of my time examining (pop the CD in the slot, lay back, and tune in). Today I spend very little time reading the works of other poets because I don't want to borrow any ideas on purpose or by accident. I formulate my own ideas through my own experiences. Sometimes it comes out mushy and unrealistic and others it is music... well to my ego anyway.

Writing is my outlet, I am addicted as a teen to a joystick half way through "Vice City" looking for package 100 and refusing to peek at the hint book. I don't care if I'm ever published, ever make a dime, or end up the whipping post of some critic who's only claim to fame was being convicted for beating his wife because she interrupted the conversation he was having with his publisher. To see someone cry or laugh at what I write has its own rewards. Finally, if you want to read my mind, then you should read my words. I always exceed the maximum requested.
