"Hello, Hello! Are You There?"
Passionate, compassionate words spoken between us,
Hours passing until ears are bent and numb,
Feeling the pressure of a phones receiver,
leaving everlasting indentations on our gums.
The phone calls are always pleasant,
We relate to love with many a song,
Body growing weary, time passing quickly,
As a fading midnight gives way to the dawn,
Slowly I lay my body down to rest,
As I struggle to talk with you,
Eyelids heavy from sleep depravation,
And every current movement that I do.
My mind is unwilling to focus,
As I attempt to sit up all night,
My body constantly betraying me,
As silent dreams begin to take flight.
Slipping away from this verbal date.
Without words to let me emulate,
My current presence which I can't regulate.
Sinking deeper into a dream-like state.
Losing your voice to sweet dreams of you,
And the soft sweet sounds of your sigh,
The phone call terminates between us,
Without me ever telling you goodbye,
I'm sorry it had to end that way...
but for this I should not be faulted,
For I fell asleep in your loving arms...
lost in a dream I always wanted.
