"In the Palm of my Hand"

The starlit sky has watched the fullness of the moon pass many times,
Since I etched your name into my palm with my tears that first time...
Your soul, a reflection held in my hand; I, drowning in wanton desire,
Sought out your fresh breath to fill my lungs, my heart, my inner fire.

Despair not my darling for they were tears of happiness,
With only an occasional sprinkling of sorrow and sadness,
I knew my hovering hand holding an umbrella of joy over us,
Would shelter us from the dark clouds of sadness and loneliness.

Gone are the days and nights I found myself trapped in an envelope,
Where inner thoughts sought to sever the tie that bound the hope,
That pushed me past a detour sign leading to an endless nowhere,
To a life that was so empty I would no longer cope, I would no longer care.

I jumped the 2000 mile hurdle after taking the sharp detour,
And found you at the end of a life that I could no longer endure.
Without a blink your love enveloped me and surrounded my cries,
With engulfing blue pools radiating from your lovely eyes,

So I locked myself in you without combination or key,
I covered you in compassion passionately
And vowed never from your precious loving heart,
Not ever, would I, could I, ever depart,

My lady, sweet lady, let love engulf you in this brand new start,
Let me carry you to our home in a heart covered cart,
Where everything that's mine is yours to be had,
where our love is a barrier to all that is sad.

Yes, we've exchanged our souls, between kissing lips,
You've seen all I'm not, been aware of my slips,
Still it is among the truths of who I'm not and who I am,
That you've found reasons to forever entwine loving hands.

And me, well I remember every single day,
That your love shining brightly comes my way,
Where my heart tiptoes softly to you from a distant land,
Holding a name forever etched in the palm of my hand.
