"You're Leaving Today"

Hey, I heard the news,
you're leaving today.
I've never been happier
about anything in my life.

The idea of the days passing by,
and you not being here...
well, it brings warmth to my heart,
leaving my face with a smile.

I won't be crying any tears,
you won't find me with a frown.
My head will be held high,
not buried in a pillow, head down.

And you may think this cruel
as you read this last note,
but I promise you it's not,
because by now you should know

that even in the worst times
I find a thread of hope,
Even when all is lost in life,
I'd be grateful I lived at all.

Know that every minute you are gone
is one more minute closer to me,
every second of every day that goes by
is one more second closer to being with you,

and every day I don't see you
is one more day closer
to having you in my arms,
and telling you once again "I love you".
