There are times when you show your love for me,
There are times when you want to tell me goodbye.
There are times when you hold me close to your body,
There are times when you push me to the side.

I don't know where our lives are going,
I simply grab your hand and hold on tight,
While I spend too much time wondering,
if you will still be with me tonight.

I see you starring at others while
I'm standing by your side.
You don't know where you're going,
and I'm going along for the ride.

I touch you, caress you, love you,
and attempt to avoid your wrath.
I keep trying to block your efforts,
as you seek a separate path.

Yet I can't keep holding on,
despite not being able to let go.
The once bright burning candle,
has burnt down to it's final glow.

I want to know where you are going,
I can't, your eyes are closed tight.
The direction you are taking,
is way beyond my line of sight.

I reach out my hand and grab hold,
of what you give me to grasp.
There's not enough of you there
for me to keep a tight clasp.

Please don't slap my hand,
Please don't push it away.
Stay with me, stay with me,
Make the candle last one more day.

My eyes are wide open,
My choice is crystal clear,
to reach until the darkness comes,
waiting to be engulfed by my only fear.

My promises to you hold me forever bound,
in spite of our candle being rapidly burnt down,
forever hoping the melted candle wax will be found,
and then be remolded into a candle more sound?

Until then I silently pray you stay within my sight,
while patiently I hold on to hope's last flickering light.
Endlessly burning past the darkness, past the night,
flickering in my heart, always a part of my life.
